I just got a leaflet through the door about a rather good sounding Sci-Fi
convention. I thought it easier to transcribe it:
----
The Wrap Party
A Science Fiction Convention to celebrate the end of the Arc of Babylon 5
The Wrap party is a fan run, non profit making Science Fiction convention. In
looking at Babylon 5 and its SF antecedents in all media - written word, radio,
drama, comics, cinema and television - we hope to shed some light on how SF has
evolved this century. We won't be doing another one - this is it!
Our guests include writers, comic artists, historians, television academics,
scientists and mythologists. Our programme includes slides tours of the Hubble
Space telescope and interactive items of NASA and the Shuttle.
This is in addition to the range of talks, panels and discussions being given by
all our guests, on such topics as diverse as "The History of SF Illustration"
and "The Telepath Gene, Could It Work?" Saturday night is party night with the
entire convention celebrating with a Millenium Ball.
Guests include J. Michael Straczynski, Harlan Ellison, James White, Bryan
Talbot, Jack Cohen, Louise Kleba (NASA), Inge Heyer (NASA), Peter David, Mike
Collins, John Ridgeway, John Matthews and Dave Lally.
----
The dates are 21st to 24th August and it's at the Radisson Edward Hotel at
Heathrow. Prices are 20 pounds each for Friday and Monday and 25 pounds each for
Saturday and Sunday if you get a ticket in advance or 5 pounds more on the door.
We may be able to get a discount for numbers.
So is anyone interested? Discuss.
P.S. There's a web site with more info at http://www.steamradio.com/wrapparty/
