Has anyone been watching the Sci fi files thing on C4 on Sundays?
Last night they had the gall to describe Heinlein as THE SF author of the
40's and 50's.Theyve obviously not done their research properly or they're
ignoring it for the sake of dumbing it down for a mass audience.

I fail to see any connection between national pride and
22 men kicking a glorified pig's bladder around a field.

Um....dare I ask the obvious - who is then? *8)

I wouldn't like to say. My basic point wasn't a dig at Heinlein. It was
that the programme seemed to be implying that there were no other
SF authors at the time. Had they simply said 'one of the major SF authors'
I would not have any quibble, even though when I have tried Heinlein,
he was not to my tastes.
Anyway, on a completely different topic, apparently George Lucas
has authorised the official Star Wars website to use a new tagline
for Star Wars 1. The new tagline which apparently is the first thing
you see when you log on is
PLOT DOES MATTER.
I love subtlety.

I can't find it anywhere very obvious on http://www.starwars.com -
maybe they've not put this message online yet?

For those of you here over the summer, I gather that the SU building will be
open 9-5 weekdays, and therefore I will be able to get at the
library to get
books out. So, if anyone is around and wants to borrow books, I should be
able to get down there occasionally.
I also intend to go looking round second-hand bookshops over the summer:
possibly Saturday 27th, although I have several other semi-commitments for
the day.
Anyone else interested then or other days, please contact me.
