Because there was an even smaller chance of the Titanic going down.
Actually the odds on the Titanic sinking were 100%. The simple reason for this being we described it as unsinkable.
On a cosmic scale, this is equivalent to walking into the Mended Drum in Ankh Morpork and announcing that your name is Sven the Indestructible.
