Many of you may know that we've been intending to go to Lurgashall
(near Guildford) for ages now. I've just received all their details.
We're arranging a tour on the 4th April from 2 to 4pm. We shall be
meeting at college at 1pm and returning for a party at our place in
Staines afterwards.
The place: Lurgashall Winery,
Windfallwood,
Lurgashall,
nr. Petworth,
W. Sussex.
GU28 9HA.
Phone: 01428 707292 Fax: 01428 707654
The following is an excerpt from their brochure....
The Tour: The tour starts in the Winery's reception area/office and
proceeds through the Winery to include the fermentation area, cellar,
laboratory and bottling room. The function and history of each area
and each piece of equipment is explained ande the wine-making process
is described.
A tutored tasting of five Lurgashall products follows.
The tour and tasting last approximately one and a half hours, but it
is wise for groups with coach bookings to allow at least two hours. We
keep our shop open in case anyone should wish to purchase items.
The cost is 3.75 with a souvenir glass or 3.00 without. This needs
to be stated at time of booking (I hope to confirm the booking on
Thursday and will need deposits of 2 by this time if possible).
The minimum group booking is for 15 people. Patric has offered to
drive a minibus (if we can hire one). This will bring the total cost
to 10, based on 14 people travelling plus driver.
The last item concerns the terms and conditions :
no stiletto heels.
no wheelchairs (lots of stairs).
deposit is non-returnable.
If you are unable to give me the deposit before we go, and tell me
that you are going then I will extract it from you whether you
eventually go or not.
I apparently am assuming responsibility for any and all damage caused
by me or any of my guests to any part of the Lurgashall Winery
property. So, if anything gets damaged by you lot, then I will also
extract the necessary funds from you to pay for the damage!
It promises to be a great afternoon out, but obviously there are only
a few places available. Everyone is welcome at our house for the party
afterwards (no particular reason, except we failed to have on at
Christmas, I guess).
Feel free to leave a message on our answer machine if you wish to come
along or need more information. I will confirm the details of the
minibus hire as soon as I can.
See you then!
