Picocon trip
So as mentioned on Tuesday the society is heading in to London to attend
Picocon - the convention run by the SFF society at Imperial College.
For those of you who've not seen the events on the website, the convention
is being held on the 14th and 15th of February. Each day has different
events and guests of honour so it's worth looking at the timetable and
seeing what you'd be interested in doing.

On the Saturday (14th) they've got Frances Hardinge and Cory Doctorow as
guest authors. There is also Stuart Ashen hosting The Destruction of Dodgy
Merchandise where attendees get to bid to destroy or save truly awful
examples of merchandising rubbish. The Turkey Readings are also well worth
going to as in a similar fashion we get to bid to stop or continue the
reading out aloud of some utterly mind bogglingly dire pieces of fiction
(all proceeds for the bidding are donated to charity)
Since things start at 10am, the best plan is to meet up at Egham station at
8.15am and catch the first train to Richmond then change to the district
line to get to South Kensington with hopefully plenty of time to register
and grab a good seat.

Sunday (15th) has the guest authors Kari Sperring and Ian McDonald, silly
games (things like "Just a Minute", "Mornington Crescent" and definitely
nothing involving dueling with fish) and a fiendishly hard SFF pub quiz.
The trains leave Egham slightly later than on Saturday, but otherwise the
same plan for Saturday should work fine.
If people could make it known if they're attending by RSVPing on the website
or on Facebook that would be useful so we know who to expect and don't leave
anyone behind. And if anyone has any questions, just ask me or someone else
who has been before.
