Now that I've read the actual press release, there's a touch more to say!
As well as getting LucasFilm, Disney have all of the subsidiaries...
including LucasArts. Who else is now thinking of the possibilities
involving the words "Grim Fandango" and "Pixar"? Not that I expect
anything would come of that, but I can dream :)

I think what they did with Marvel was to put money in, get money out
and have as little other input as possible.
With Lucasfilm, I think the big change is that Lucas is stepping back
and outright saying "Star Wars is somebody else's now". He's made a
big deal of handing over the creative reins and I think *that's* the
big change, rather than the Disney buyout. Star Wars has
traditionally been better with him as an ideas man and somebody else
calling the shots, and with him on as a consultant only... that's
where we're at now.
So it's promising, but it'll depend what the new head honchos of the
franchise want to do with it.

What are peoples' thoughts on this? I'm hopeful based on what they've done
(or not done) with Marvel that we might see some promising stuff out of this
deal. They've already announced Star Wars episode 7 to come out in 2015 and
with their choice of people at the helm, we should be spared the awful
cheesy romance dialogue and stupid Jar Jar like characters?
I'm also wondering if they'll make another Indy movie too.
