Someone said something about the horrible consequences
of terrorists getting their hands on the stocks of smallpox (or whatever)
virus in Russia. We really don't need to worry about the average
type of terrorist doing this. Most terrorists believe in the cause
they are fighting for, they want to release their country from the
rule of another for instance. releasing a doomsday virus on the
world would do as much damage to their own population as to anyone
else's.
The average sane(?) terrorist in the street wouldn't think it
worth the cost. Plus terrorist atrocities are aimed at getting maximum
publicity for the cause. If you've just killed everyone...
Of course we can still worry about the unaverage psychotic
terrorist who just wants to destroy the world because we're
approaching the millenium.
Before people flame me and tell me I'm a terrorist sympathiser or
something I studied the subject as part of my degree.
The fastest summary of what most who've studied terrorism say is that the
difference between a terrorist and a freedom fighter is your point of view.
You wouldn't accuse a freedom fighter of wanting to destroy the world.
PS the french resistance were terrorists too.
