A Movie Night to starboard Captain!
Dear All,
Profuse apologies for the late sending of the email but this week is
exceptional- we've had an ANSWER from the SU (insert collective gasp of
amazement here!) confirming our room booking!
Therefore gentlebeings, tomorrow night in ALT2, at the lovely hour of 7pm, we
shall be showing Terry Gilliam's (American one in Monty Python of wacky
cartoons and niche movies fame) Brazil.
Who else would make a movie described by Wikipedia as : " a 1985
British science_fiction fantasy/black_comedy_film directed by Terry_Gilliam. It
was written by Gilliam, Charles_McKeown, and Tom_Stoppard. The film
stars Jonathan_Pryce and features Robert_De_Niro, Kim_Greist, Michael
Palin, Katherine_Helmond, Bob_Hoskins, and Ian_Holm. John_Scalzi's Rough Guide
to Sci-Fi Movies describes the film as a "dystopian satire".
The film centres on Sam Lowry, a man trying to find a woman who appears in his
dreams while he is working in a mind-numbing job and living a life in a small
apartment, set in a dystopian world in which there is an over-reliance on
poorly maintained (and rather whimsical) machines. "
Therfore if you can be there , see you there! As per usual we shall repair to
the pub afterwards (probably Crosslands) and of course our Alma Mata evening on
Thursday shall go ahead as ever!
Yours, Clementine
