On the subject of computer games, James Hadwen had been planning to do a
discussion thread but (for whatever reason) didn't. Here it is: can
anyone think of any games they have played which have Dr.Who, Star Trek
etc. send-ups in them? (He had been playing Jet Set Willy 2, which has
the Starship Enterprise in it) Obviously not counting Dr.Who: Dalek
Attack or Star Trek: Judgement Rites or any games like that!
I can think of one at least - on the Amstrad, a game called Roland In
Time, which features a novel means of time travel: a phone booth. Where
they got that idea from I can only guess - the title music went
"Diddly-dum, diddly-dum, diddly-dum, dum de dum...".
Also, there are many patches for Doom, Quake etc. which turn Imps into
Daleks, allow your anti-Quake man to run around the Enterprise-D, etc...
And Steve D. was right about How to Be a Complete Barsteward (or
whatever it's called :^D) - you can indeed pick up "fluffy pet" and "zap
it in microwave"! You can also find a computer, and if you reset it,
then guess what happens... as to the title, it's named after an Adrian
Edmonson book, and the idea is to make all the guests at the party
leave! (Don't even think about saying it, I know I would just by
turning up!)

Doesn't this belong on the Gamesoc List instead?

Does it? It's a bit of cross-over between Sci-Fi and Games, isn't it?
Maybe it belongs on the gamesoc list AS WELL :-)

Space Quest III had one of the little capsules from 2001 in it.

For sheer number of references to SF, (Star Wars in particular) try the
Monkey Island series of games.
The end sequence of Monkey Island 2 brilliantly parodies the Empire
Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi.

Yes, but how?!? Details!! Some of us haven't played them! (All he's
told me about is El Poulo Diablo, the Devil Chicken!)

I'm not telling you what happens in these games as finding out is half
