Cargo, Tuesday 1st February, 7pm, ALT 2
Hello all,
This week we're showing Cargo, a Swiss sci-fi thriller from 2009. Here's a
handy blurb from our resident "has-seen-it" guy, Adrian:-
"Earth is an ecological wasteland. Mankind's leftovers now live on
overcrowded orbital space-stations, all hoping to raise enough money to buy
passage to Rhea - humanity's new home.
Young medic Laura joins the crew of the old and decrepit cargo freighter
Kassandra in the hope of earning enough to join her sister, who has already
gone to Rhea. Four years out to Station 42, then four years back, and she'll
have enough money.
Four months before the end of her shift as the only person awake on the
ship, she comes to realise that she's not alone, and that things are not as
they should be in the cargo hold."
We'll be watching it in ALT 2 at 7pm, and then customarily heading down to
the pub afterwards.
Just a quick heads-up about Picocon 28, which will be happening on Saturday
19th of February at Imperial College. If you'd like to go please say you're
attending on the website so we can get an idea of numbers. You'll be hearing
more about it from us soon.
