Moon, Tuesday 26th October, 7pm, ABF1
Hello everyone,
This week we are watching Moon, the debut film from director Duncan Jones
(aka Zowie Bowie, son of David.) In the film, Sam Rockwell plays an isolated
worker on a moonbase, who tries to deal with the monotony of his three year
shift on the moon. Mining for Helium-3, Sam's only company is the base's
computer, GERTY (voiced by Kevin Spacey). A mining accident threatens to
turn Sam's world upside down, and as his paranoia grows, he starts to
suspect there may be more to the base than meets the eye...
We're in ABF1 again this week, which is on the first floor of the Arts
Building, but we will be meeting in the Arts Building lobby before watching
the film at 7. We'll be collecting any outstanding membership fees (we'll
have change!) and NUS/Student Activities Membership numbers, too.
After the film, we will head off to the Stumble Inn for our social (not our
only social of the week, we'll also be at the Al Ma Ma Ta near Egham station
on Thursday at 7!)
See you on Tuesday,
Mohamed
(IFIS Secretary 2010-2011)
P.S. Stay tuned for some exciting film-marathon related news! (Think the
Blue Danube, milk bars, and typewriters...)
