A shorthand way of saying 'that which is not possible using today's science.'
Under my woolly definition, Science Fantasy. I have no objection to a principally science based set up for storytelling having a mystical element.
In terms of novels and films there is a simple method of determining whether or not they are claiming to be fantasy or SF.
If the good guy says, 'I'm going to blast you out of existence with my phaser blaster because I am a Starship captain' he is using science.
If on the other hand, he says 'I will now use mighty magics to blast you out of existence with a fireball because I am a mighty sorcerer' I guess he's using magic.
On the subject of A C Clarke, has anyone else seen the story in a couple of papers that he's been involved in many a childhood's end. Or should that be up many a childs rear end.
NO E AT THE END! LOOK AT THE NAME AT THE TOP OF THE EMAIL!
OR EVEN IN THE SIG.
