Picocon and Eastercon - gauging interest
Hi everyone,
As you may or may not be aware, this year there's two SF conventions that
IFIS is thinking of attending; Picocon and Eastercon.
Picocon is held every year at Imperial College London, and is a one day
event run by their SF society, ICSF. Last year a bunch of us went, and we
had a great time (and won a prize in their pub quiz). We will cover the cost
of tickets, so you're getting free entry to a really fun event!
Here's Picocon 27's website for more information:
http://www.union.ic.ac.uk/scc/icsf/social/events/picocon/index.html
Eastercon is a much bigger event, taking place over the Easter weekend at a
Heathrow hotel. They're still working on their programme, but their website
has got lots of information about what they're going to do:
http://www.odyssey2010.org/ Now, a full 4-day pass for students is 55, but
if we get enough interest we will probably be able to subsidise the costs of
single day entries, currently at 15 for the Friday and Monday, and 20 for
the weekend. When the programme is announced, we can start to get some idea
of which day most people would like to go to.
If you want you can register your interest on the IFIS site for
Picocon here<www.ifis.org.uk/events/20100227-picocon%2027.shtml>,
and for Eastercon
here<www.ifis.org.uk/events/20100402-easter%20con.shtml>
.
Also, stay tuned for news on a laserquest/other shooting thing with Gamesoc,
still set to be happening this term.
See you tomorrow,
Mohamed
