So everyone,
This October/November is apparently the 30th anniversary and we have
managed over the years to collect a hefty social fund that has not been
suitably tapped and so I propose to you this: we splurge this glut of
money on a celebration. I just wanted to know if some of you can get
back to me with what ideas you think would work.
I believe we should do this on a Saturday as due to work/uni commitments
and also we would have Sunday to recover should anyone need it. This
gives us the options of:
October 24th
October 31st
November 7th
November 14th
November 21st
October 24th is too soon for us to convince those who seem to have
vanished/don't turn up on Thursdays very often to come I think.
October 31st is Hallowe'en so I expect everyone has plans. If you don't,
we've commandeered a lecture hall for a vampire film evening so come
find us :-)
November 7th is problematic as this year the society is showing movie
marathons on campus for the 1st Saturday of every month but you are
welcome to come along to these too.
This leaves November 14th or 21st.
Personally, I'd go for 14th as it is closer to the October/November
thing.
The idea that the committee have come up with so far would be to get as
many of the life/past members to turn up to the Al Ma Ma Ta as possible
and we'll bring the Students. It is our regular pub and they should be
able to provide us with a BBQ catered for however many people we say we
are expecting. Then we just leave some money behind the bar for drinks.
This should last us for quite a while considering our funds.
So... feedback re the date/idea is very much appreciated
Thanks
