Today 16 years ago the Peanut throwing competition was first held. So when
you order your pint tonight don't forget that extra packet of peanuts. And
take very careful aim.

18 years to the day in fact ! I've just checked the date in my Wisden
Book of Test Cricket - it's a long story but basically we know that the
Peanut incident occurred on the same day as the first day of the second
test between England & West Indies at Lords in 1992.

I'm pretty sure someone was Simon Banks. There weren't that many of us
there - Dave had sent us down the far end of the pub (this in itself
started us eating in there to get & keep a table). I was there, NickWa,
Simon Banks, maybe Simon Richardson .....
