This week's film

This week's film is Strange Days, a tale of murder, sex, and the VR
proof which could start another LA riot. It starts at 7.00 in MLT

I am also now taking suggestions for other films. Before you all suggest
"morph's guide to sex" or "The Magus's guide to absailing off of
Founders", there are some rules-

*It must be vaguely SF or fantasy based (or at least popular
enough to get a fair sized crowd in )

*It must be legal (i.e NO PORN)

*You must be able to get hold of a copy of anything you suggest,
or it must be in an Egham video shop

"The Princess Bride" is an absolute classic fantasy film which EVERY
IFIS member ought to have seen, and I remember someone, someone who
should have known better, someone like a COMITTEE MEMBER, telling me
they hadn't seen it yet. this is absolutely unforgivable, in fact,
it's INCONCEEEEEEEIVABLE!

It sounds like "Brazil" ought to be shown for the benefit of those who
haven't seen it yet (er, yeah, including me).

I have copies of the widescreen directors cut of 'Blade Runner' and
also a copy of 'The Terminator' (not widescreen or anything fancy, but
for 4 quid in the sale at HMV you can't really complain.) Also, has
anyone checked out if there are any decent sci-fi films in the college
library? I'd really like to see a double bill of, say, 'Ed Wood' and
'Plan 9 from outer space'.
Incidentally, huge thanks to everyone who did my survey - I really
appreciated your help. (why is it that computers and printers always
crash whenever you need them to do something really important? Can they
tell or is it just sod's law?) Let me know if you want X-files or B5
spoilers and I'll be happy to help. I'm still thinking about the method
acting an alien / dramatic structure of B5 issues...

I would have thought that Men in Black would be a good one to put on. It
is supposed to be out either this week, or on Monday.

This week's film will be Men in Black (providing I can get the tape on
the night) and it will be at 7pm in MLT

EG: In the film where she says "hydrogen times pi!", it doesn't mean
much, it just sounds like technobabble if anything. In the book it is
described in a bit more detail and it makes sense. This is fair though
- the film was quite long enough without delving into TOO much detail.

... and I think the book had more of a sort of tidy ending, whereas
the film leaves an element of mystery at the end - perhaps leaving
more room for a sequel?

Anyway, yeah, good film. reccommendable.
