The Doctor Who TV Movie got a few things wrong - calling the chameleon
circuit a "cloaking device" was an annoying example of comparing every
sci-fi show to Star Trek (as was making the Doc half human - ugh!) - but
the 13 lives bit is right; if you think about it, if the Doc regenerates
12 times, he will have 13 separate lives, including the original
(unregenerated) one!
Anyway, the book gets it right - that female just kisses the Doc, he
never really kisses back, so there's none of this silly love interest.
On the other hand, isn't it about time...? (Fans of New Adventures
would probably argue that he misses it after becoming human in Human
Nature, but I haven't read that one) Here's an idea: maybe now he's
going to have children, and then, when they have children, one of them
will be Susan...? No, that's just a wayward theory, pay no attention.
And as for the American Master... well, okay, but it was an excuse to do
a Terminator rip-off, and I loved the mocking English accent he did when
he said "Doctor" (in the first TARDIS scene with the "annoying kid")!
I've got to go now, because the morons at the library can't even keep
this place open for very long. (Phew, she nearly saw that over my
shoulder...!)
