Comics etc TV etc Toys etc & life of Phil
A whole load of things to say so I'll bung em as a mixed bag in one email:
If you aren't reading Neil Gaimon's Eternals Limited Series from Marvel
you're missing out. Excellent stuff. Civil War and Civil War Frontline
from the same publishers also come recommended.
The 3rd series of Battlestar Galactica starts Thursday in the US. The
Broadband Channel shall be deployed at some point over the weekend to snag
it cos I need my fix of BSG action. I've got the S2 DVD set now and must
sit down and watch it - the first few episodes of S2 are just brilliant, and
Pegasus on the DVD is extended.
Similarly Torchwood - the DW spin off - is due on BBC3 soon but I've only
got listings as far as 20th October from Digiguide and it ain't starting
till then !
And if you're not watching QI on Fridays you're missing out.
Long term Transformer fans may want to give some notice to the Classics
range just coming out in the US - there's some very nice stuff there
reminiscent of the G1 designs.
Life has followed art well the Simpsons at least. I've just bought a Luke
Endor SW Saga figure. Which is the SAGA Luke Jedi figure with a poncho and
helmet. Malibu Stacy with a new hat anyone ?
Right last few weeks have been fun in life of Phil
Liz (Mrs A's) Blood pressure went through the roof the other week. No it
wasn't cos I'd had some huge Transformers toy but rather due to being 7
months pregnant. All's well now but a worrying couple of days while they
pumped tablets into her to bring it under control. Due date is 25th
November but I'll be encouraging little one to make a debut 2 days earlier
as it'll mean one less date to remember ! The house has been majorly
rearranged to give the baby a room to sleep - I'm writing this while looking
out over the green at the front of the house.
Always back your data up - my PC's HDD died suddenly 2 weeks ago taking 5
years of email with it. All the excel and files on the 2nd partition were
recoverable but it was an anxious couple of weeks. And when buying a new
Hard Drive be aware of the difference between ATA (PATA) and SATA. As a
consequence I now have a HDD I can't return with a connector I can't plug in
to my mother board sitting here.
Work have finally got the insurers to pay out the full amount of ill health
insurance I calculated I should be getting so we will not starve. Hurrah.
We're now trying to get the Social Security to pay out Incapacity Benefit
(which the insurers deducted at source and is worth about 5K a year) The
signs are good cos the SS are quibbling over a date and I don't think they'd
have gone to that much trouble if they didn't think the rest of the claim
was OK. That and they paid up for someone else from my place who gave up
with ill health.
I've seen the nationwide expert in CMT ( see
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Charcot_marie_tooth ) at the Radcliffe and he
tells us my condition is about normal. I'm getting some odd effects now -
loss of memory, concentration, unable to get words out, muscle spasms - but
these are probably down to long term medication's side effects.
's all I think !
