NTL

A quick survey: Anyone in the house got experience of using NTL as a phone provider
and ISP ? Liz and I are thinking of switching.

Don't do it. I know someone who works as one of their main networking bods,
and he tells me that NTL are an absolute bloody shambles, and they know it.

Which is strange because Telewest were always p!$$ poor when I lived in London on the
comms side. I think Cable firms may be particular to each area quality wise with
each their own little fiefdom and way of doing things.

I've had some good feedback from the people who use them for phones and internet here
in Swindon. Not had a bad word said against them. My experience of them with the TV
was very good, only got rid of them because of our current money troubles.

And it can't be any worse than BTInternet which appears to drop every time I turn my
back at the moment.

You'll like this. A lot.

Having giving notice that I would like to cancel in April, and had the service
removed on 25th May they then billed me an extra month on 14th June and took the
direct debit. Hmmm, odd thinks I but I know their billing months might be odd.
Then this week a bill turned up for a months worth of charges 27th June - 26th July,
due to be taken 14th July. Now that's definitely not right. And what's more if
you work it back that means the amount deducted 14th June was for 27th May - 26th
June *AFTER* the service was disconnected.

As a bonus joke I then get a letter from a debt collection agency *THIS* morning
saying I owe NTL a month's money and haven't paid.

I am lead to wonder if NTL would like my business back
