SF dialogue...

My vote for best dialogue recently comes from the scene in B5 when Londo
kicks the shadows off hos planet (paraphasing)...
"What you doing to do - blow the island up..."
"well now you mention it..."

As been mentioned any episone of ST can raise hundreds of good
quotes in the worse dialogue catagory. Among my favorites is the classic
where Dr McCoy is looking at Spock and says "My god, his brain missing..."

But I thought bad dialogue was in proportional to the quality of the
fx - Good effects means bad dialogue.

Or the other one, when Londo sends Vir off to the garden just after
this because there is a "present" waiting for him there, and there is
Morden's head stuck on a pike there. :)

And Vir remembers the last dialogue he had with Morden some time
before when Morden asked him "What do you want?"

"I want to be there when you and your associates are all dead, and
when your head is cut off and stuck on a pike. I want to look into
your lifeless little eyes and wave like this..."

That was pretty cool, in the given context, and it was acted pretty
well, if anyone remembers it - definitely one of the classics! :)

Yes, but just consider any of the dialogues involving Garak and/or
Dukat in DS9. For example when Bashir and Garak talk and Bashir
mentions the story of the boy who cried wolf.

G:"So, what is your point?"
B:"The point is that you should always tell the truth!"
G:"Oh, I see. The way I understood it, the point was to never use
the same
lie twice..."

That was just great.

Also, consider almost any of Dukat's famous lines, especially the
ones when Major Kira is around, or is being spoken about.

Or, the one between Garak and Dukat

D: "I should have executed you years ago when I had the chance."
G: "You tried, remember?"

I have to agree here. As unfortunate as it may be...

Very true - one has only to look at ID4, with the incredibly corny
presidential speech, to appreciate this. The one redeeming feature about
this film is that you get to see famous American landmarks blown to
bits. Cool.
