What kind of Science Fiction-Fantasy movie are we going to watch tonight? Something that's "Acceptable in the 80s" (pardon the pun!). We'll bring a selection of 80s movies (shortlist TBC) and YOU will have the chance to vote for your favourite!

Our 3rd and final cinema trip for this term is the final superhero movie of the year: Justice League. A follow-up to Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice and the 5th installment of the DC Extended Universe; Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman, the Flash, Aquaman and Cyborg must unite to stop Steppenwolf and his army of parademons who are on the hunt for the three Mother Boxes on Earth.

Come and experience last year's Science Fiction classic from director Denis Villeneuve (Prisoners, Sicario, Blade Runner 2049): 'Arrival'. Starring Amy Adams (DCEU), Jeremy Renner (MCU) and Forest Whitaker (Rogue One), and based off the short story 'Story of your life' by Ted Chiang; this film follows the discoveries made by a team of scientists when 12 alien spaceships arrive on Earth and attempt to communicate.The film received 8 nominations including Best Picture and won for Best Sounding Editing.

Come along for a drink and talk to us about anything (preferably Science Fiction-Fantasy related, but we're open to other things as well!)

Do you know your Doctor Who from your Doctor Strange? Do you know your Deadpools, Deadshots and Deathstrokes inside out? Do you know what exactly is the function of a rubber duck? (Arthur Weasley really wants to know!). Then come along to our highly anticipated Autumn Quiz. Get yourself into teams and compete to discover which group of nerds really know their stuff. The quiz rounds will test your geek knowledge to the extreme, including our mystery round which could literally be about anything!

Our second cinema trip for this term is the highly anticipated THOR: RAGNAROK. The 3rd Thor movie and the 17th installment in the Marvel Cinematic Universe; come along and enjoy watching Thor, Hulk, Valkyrie, Loki, Heimdall and Odin take on Hela (the Goddess of Death) and prevent the oncoming Ragnarok (with an appearance from Doctor Strange as well!).

Oooooh... It's Halloween! By our logic, we need to watch a Science Fiction-Fantasy Horror Movie; but which one? We'll bring a small selection of films (shortlist TBC) and YOU will have the chance to vote for your scary movie of the night! Muwahahahahahahaaaaaa.....Also, we're going to be holding a costume competition. Come dressed as something Science Fiction-Fantasy related or Halloween related and we'll vote for the best! (The Winner will receive a special prize...)

For those of you who want to come to Comic Con with us, we'll be taking the train and tube up! Some of us have already bought priority entry tickets, so make sure you can get hold of your tickets by going to the official website. Keep an eye on our Facebook page as we'll post updates as to where we are and what we're doing!

Hooray! It's one of our more traditional events: the Panel Games Night! Here, we'll be playing a few games inspired by such popular stand-up panel shows such as Just a Minute, I'm Sorry I Haven't a Clue, Whose Line is it Anyway? and Room 101 (as well as having the occasional rant about movies in general). Think you've got what it takes speak your mind and advance your comedic creativity? Then come on down to INT031 for a night full of laughter and nerdy humour!

Not only does Science Fiction and Fantasy play a big part in the realm of cinema, it also spreads across our television universe! We're planning to start off our night with an episode of Rick and Morty (not necessarily the pilot); then we'll vote for which other TV shows we'd like to watch next! (shortlist coming soon). They could be anything from superhero to scary, there's something for everyone at our Pilots night!

Are you a fan of Studio Ghibli? Come along to our dedicated Studio Ghibli Movie Night. We're collaborating with Anime and Manga Society and Japan Society to bring you a viewing of a film from one of the most famous animation studios. We have a selection which you will vote for on the night, including: Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind, Laputa: Castle in the Sky, My Neighbour Totoro, Kiki's Delivery Service, Princess Mononoke, Spirited Away, Howl's Moving Castle and Ponyo (this list could be updated if anyone wants to suggest any of the other films, please message us if you do).

In the mood for some light entertainment? Come along to our Board Games night! We have plenty of games to pass the time, as well as having a chat about almost anything! From the serious (Settlers of Catan) to the silly (Cards Against Humanity), there's something for everyone. We'll be in one of the smaller meeting rooms on the ground floor of the international building (INT031; if you're not sure where that is, we'll be happy to meet in the Arts building foyer and walk down beforehand.

Come along and watch 'Stardust' - the fairy tale that has no rules! Director Matthew Vaughn (Kick-Ass, X-Men: First Class, Kingsman) takes us to magical lands filled with witches, goats and cross-dressing pirates! Featuring an all-star cast including Charlie Cox (Daredevil), Claire Danes, Rickey Gervais, Rupert Everett with Michelle Pfeiffer (Batman Returns) and Robert De Niro!

Our first cinema trip of the year will take us to the new 'Blade Runner 2049'; the highly anticipated follow-up to Ridley Scott's cult classic. We're attempting to see the 4:30pm showing at Vue Cinema, Staines. If you don't know where it is, or how to get there, we will be meeting at Egham train station at 4pm.

The four committee members of The Institute For Impure Science (IFIS) shall each choose a film; they could be anything Science Fiction-Fantasy related, and you will have the chance to vote for the film you think is best. Which film will reign superior? The choice is yours...

If you enjoy having a friendly chat/debate about all things Science Fiction and Fantasy, then join us on our Pub Crawl! Starting at Crosslands, we'll be travelling to as many pubs as we can around the Egham/Englefield Green area. How many will we visit? Will we be able to do a 'Golden Mile'?Please note that alcohol is completely optional.

To kick off the new academic year to an awesome start, the Science Fiction-Fantasy Society is proud to present one of the highest grossing movies of 2017: Wonder Woman!

The 22nd of September is said to be the birth date of Bilbo and Frodo Baggins, but obviously separated by many years.

This is our Welcome Back Event, aimed mostly at at returning members. That said everyone is welcome if you want to try our society (so bring your friends) we have simply decided to postpone any free pizza until next week to give Freshers a little more notice.

During Welcome Week (or Freshers Week as it's more commonly known as), the Royal Holloway, University of London (RHUL) Student Union holds a societies fayre where you can find out more information about us or join us.
