Past society events

If you enjoy having a friendly chat/debate about all things Science Fiction and Fantasy, then join us on our Pub Crawl! Starting at Crosslands, we'll be travelling to as many pubs as we can around the Egham/Englefield Green area. How many will we visit? Will we be able to do a 'Golden Mile'?Please note that alcohol is completely optional.

The 22nd of September is said to be the birth date of Bilbo and Frodo Baggins, but obviously separated by many years.

This is our Welcome Back Event, aimed mostly at at returning members. That said everyone is welcome if you want to try our society (so bring your friends) we have simply decided to postpone any free pizza until next week to give Freshers a little more notice.

The academic year has finished. Events will resume once the new year starts.

A long standing tradition of the society holds that on the social that happens to fall on the event of Ladies day at Ascot (3rd Thursday in June), that members should arm themselves with peanuts and prepare for coming of the Hat.

This happens every year on the 25th of May as a tribute to the late Douglas Adams. As a reference to the awesome Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy, fans carry with them a towel in his honour. Do you know where your towel is?

Free Comic Book day is a yearly event where various comic stores around the world, give away specifically chosen comics, in a bid to promote comics to a wider audience. There are a number of stores taking part in this within the London area, although this trip will only focus on the ones located in the centre of town.

Star Wars day is every year on the 4th of May. It is derived from a pun on the Jedi phrase "May the force be with you", namely "May the Fourth be with you".

Royal Holloway is closed over the Easter period.

This day is celebrated as the Fall of Sauron. As of 2003 that day is known as Tolkien Reading Day, an event to encourage the use of Tolkien's works in education and library reading groups.

As the last event of the term, if the committee has any money left we will be laying on more food!All are welcome!

This Thursday we are planning to hold a Board Games night in Imagine, feel free to bring any friends and Games you would like to play - there might be a prize for the game which most impresses the President.

An event called IFIS Members' Choice MkII held by IFIS on 2017/03/14 19:00 in/at Main Lecture Theatre

This will involve some kind of extra thing to help promote our library... TBC.

We will be running this event similar to last year, it will begin with a discussion on any points people wish to raise to the committee (serious). This will be followed by a Hustings where prospective committee members will present their case and be asked questions (also serious... mostly).This will be followed by a panel games session (almost certainly very silly).
