The 22nd of September is said to be the birth date of Bilbo and Frodo Baggins, but obviously separated by many years.

Social Event to welcome old members (and new) back to Royal Holloway!

During Welcome Week (or Freshers Week as it's more commonly known as), the Royal Holloway, University of London (RHUL) Student Union holds a societies fayre where you can find out more information about us or join us.

The academic year has finished. Events will resume once the new year starts.

A long standing tradition of the society holds that on the social that happens to fall on the event of Ladies day at Ascot (3rd Thursday in June), that members should arm themselves with peanuts and prepare for coming of the Hat.

This happens every year on the 25th of May as a tribute to the late Douglas Adams. As a reference to the awesome Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy, fans carry with them a towel in his honour. Do you know where your towel is?

Although the exact date and year has long been lost to the sands of time, it is believed the IFIS is turning 40 this year! (or possibly last year or maybe even the year before....)
