Get ready for Tuesday, it's our long awaited quiz night! And this time, it's for RAG, so not only will it be an amazing night of facts, fun, and fantastic prizes, but we'll also be raising money for charity! Everyone is welcome, entry is £1 for members, £2 for non-members, and we will have SO MANY PRIZES! So bring your friends, and start preparing your quiz brains!

This week we will be holding a Doctor Who evening where we will be watching 2/3 episodes of Doctor Who.The voting for this has been up for a week now, if you haven't seen it go to the The Institute For Impure Science (IFIS) community group to see the poll.https://www.facebook.com/groups/RHULIFIS/?fref=ts

Picocon is a convention run by our counterpart society at Imperial College. It's a fun event filled with guest speakers, silly games and a quiz.

This week we will be holding a Members' Choice. Due to the LATE start time, this will need to be a shorter film - less than two hours.

This week we're watching Hook, which is sort of like a sequel to Peter Pan.

As our second Women Empowerment Event, we are showing the Disney film Tangled!Come and join us this Friday in the Arts Building at 7pm and feel free to invite your friends!

As part of our Women Empowerment Week we are showing the the 2014 Science Fiction film Lucy, starring Scarlett Johansson. Meet at the Arts Foyer at 7PM. (note we are back at our regular time)

In honour of the recently departed Alan Rickman, we're having a Members Choice night where you can bring along your favourite Alan Rickman movies and we'll vote on which one we get to watch.

This week we are watching the Aardman film Pirates! An Adventure with Scientists!An animated comedy featuring British Humour, Childish Fun and Real Plasticine;Famous voices include David Tennant, Martin Freeman, Imelda Staunton and Brian Blessed.

As the closest event to Christmas we will be screening a Christmas Film.

As with Donnie Darko, I haven't seen this, (I have read the books though).Here is the take on it from IMDB: "A hapless young Viking who aspires to hunt dragons, becomes the unlikely friend of a young dragon himself, and learns there may be more to the creatures than he assumed."

The best of Science Fiction/ Fantasy and Board Games comes together in an epic clash between these two great societies. Come and represent IFIS as we battle GameSoc to prove we are just as good as they are...

A less well known film after Ultron, I haven't watched Donnie Darko so this is what IMDB says:

We couldn't let the year pass without screening this. Not only is it a fantastic film, it also features a cameo appearance of our very own Founder's Building.

This week, we are holding a quiz!It will have a mixture of the usual quiz categories (with the possible exception of 'sport') with an emphasis on Science Fiction and Fantasy (of course). There will be many, many prizes.

In the film "Back To The Future 2", Marty McFly travels forwards 30 years into the future to 2015. The exact time and date of his arrival is October 21st at 4:29pm Pacific time. For us in England that works out to be the 22nd at 0:29am. The future he finds himself in is vastly different to what we've actually got and this lends itself to the running joke of "Where's my [futuristic item]", usually a hoverboard as that was a key macguffin in this and the 3rd movie.
