Star Trek is finally here! Will it be good? Or will it be awful, as Erin is wont to tell us? The way to find out is clear! Come with The Institute For Impure Science (IFIS) to see Star Trek: Into Darkness, and see for yourself! We'll be meeting on Wednesday 15th at 7:45pm, for a 2d showing. The film starts at 8:00.

Sooo... Anyone for animation? I hope so, because this week we shall be showing Titan A.E! It's a post-apocalyptic Science Fiction (!) film. The film combines traditional hand drawn animation with digital ink and paint. It also stars Matt Damon (Matt Daaaaammaaan), Bill Pullman, and Drew Barrimore, so there should be at least some mediocre acting on display to entertain everyone!

Star Trek. One of the most popular Science Fiction series of all time, responsible for importing into the popular conciousness such disparate concepts as teleportation, mobile phones, and 3-D printing, Star Trek has been an influential series for Scientists, and nerds alike.

Star Wars day is every year on the 4th of May. It is derived from a pun on the Jedi phrase "May the force be with you", namely "May the Fourth be with you".

This Saturday is Star Wars day and it's also Free Comic Book day. So with that in mind, we're going to head in to London and do a tour of comic and other geeky stores. Free Comic Book day is held on the first Saturday of May and selected comic book shops around the world will be giving away free comics.

Term is back! And with that comes revision, exams, and no end of stress. So come on down to your friendly neighbourhood IFIS, where we shall be attempting to ignore that pesky stress that everyone seems to be having... By showing looper (2012). We'll be going to the pub afterwards, so whether you drink or not, be sure to come down and socialise!

It's that time of year where we hold our Annual General Meeting (AGM), which amongst other things is where the elections for next year's committee take place. Being on the committee is not very difficult and looks good on your CV, so it's worth nominating yourself if you're think you can do any of the roles. There are 4 available: President, Secretary, Treasurer and optionally we also have a Librarian.
