This day is celebrated as the Fall of Sauron. As of 2003 that day is known as Tolkien Reading Day, an event to encourage the use of Tolkien's works in education and library reading groups.

As March is International Women's History Month, we're doing somewhat of a tie-in with Royal Holloway, University of London (RHUL)'s FemSoc (the Feminist society) with a feminist science fiction/fantasy film.

Picocon is a tiny (hence the name) convention organised by Imperial College's own Science Fiction society. There'll be all manner of events through out the day, most notably readings/talks given by the Guests of Honour. This year's crop of famous authors are Adrian Czajkowski, Justina Robson and Tricia Sullivan.
