A long standing tradition of the society holds that on the social that happens to fall on the event of Ladies day at Ascot (3rd Thursday in June), that members should arm themselves with peanuts and prepare for coming of the Hat.

Star Wars day is every year on the 4th of May. It is derived from a pun on the Jedi phrase "May the force be with you", namely "May the Fourth be with you".

This day is celebrated as the Fall of Sauron. As of 2003 that day is known as Tolkien Reading Day, an event to encourage the use of Tolkien's works in education and library reading groups.
