Past society events

As the last event of the term, if the committee has any money left we will be laying on more food!All are welcome!

This Thursday we are planning to hold a Board Games night in Imagine, feel free to bring any friends and Games you would like to play - there might be a prize for the game which most impresses the President.

An event called The Institute For Impure Science (IFIS) Members' Choice MkII held by IFIS on 2017/03/14 19:00 in/at Main Lecture Theatre

This will involve some kind of extra thing to help promote our library... TBC.

We will be running this event similar to last year, it will begin with a discussion on any points people wish to raise to the committee (serious). This will be followed by a Hustings where prospective committee members will present their case and be asked questions (also serious... mostly).This will be followed by a panel games session (almost certainly very silly).

This is our big winter quiz, there will be fun, there will be prizes!

Our counterparts at Imperial College are hosting their yearly convention again - Picocon. This year's guests of honour are the authors Jaine Fenn, Paul McAuley, Justina Robson and Al Robertson. Plus Stuart Ashen will be hosting the "Destruction of Dodge Merchandise".

This week we will be watching a number of TV series pilots, specially selected by our Treasurer. This will include the first episode of Red Dwarf as well as two others.

The first Members' choice of the term will the Suicide Squad (extended edition)!

We were all trying to remember what Pixar films we liked and narrowed it down to this or The Incredibles. Since the president is a physicist and this one is vaguely plausible he "democratically" laid down the rule of law.

Next Saturday we will be holding a marathon of the three original Mad Max films.

Assuming films of books count as "book-related" events, we are definitely responding to your feedback! More to follow, we promise.

As a bigger welcome back, we are going to be watching Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens. Like last term, this will also feature food and drink provided by the society - so be sure to let us know you're coming!

The SU is hosting its first ever Comic Con! Don your cape and show off your best costumes in our cosplay competition, with the best ones winning prizes. Join in CastPlay, photo booths and get involved with a VR experience, along with a film screening.

Come join us for our annual IFIS Christmas Meal! We'll meet at 7pm in the Arts Building foyer before walking down towards Egham where we shall dine at Café Gondola, a nice Italian restaurant who serve very nice pizzas and pastas! The cost will be whatever you order, and we look forward to a very enjoyable evening!"
