Star Trek. One of the most popular Science Fiction series of all time, responsible for importing into the popular conciousness such disparate concepts as teleportation, mobile phones, and 3-D printing, Star Trek has been an influential series for Scientists, and nerds alike.

Star Wars day is every year on the 4th of May. It is derived from a pun on the Jedi phrase "May the force be with you", namely "May the Fourth be with you".

This Saturday is Star Wars day and it's also Free Comic Book day. So with that in mind, we're going to head in to London and do a tour of comic and other geeky stores. Free Comic Book day is held on the first Saturday of May and selected comic book shops around the world will be giving away free comics.

This day is celebrated as the Fall of Sauron. As of 2003 that day is known as Tolkien Reading Day, an event to encourage the use of Tolkien's works in education and library reading groups.

It's that time of year where we hold our Annual General Meeting (AGM), which amongst other things is where the elections for next year's committee take place. Being on the committee is not very difficult and looks good on your CV, so it's worth nominating yourself if you're think you can do any of the roles.
