We are hopefully going to show both of the Bill and Ted films - Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure from 1989 and Bill and Ted's Bogus Journey from 1991.
Starring Alex Winter as Bill and Keanu Reaves (who he?) as Ted, these are very silly films. Here is the blurb for "Excellent Adventure" from Amazon:
"In Stephen Herek's quirky comedy, two brain-dead California teenagers, with a combined vocabulary of approximately 75 words, travel back in time to corral various historical figures for a class presentation that just might keep the pair from failing history "most heinously." Bill and Ted encounter Napoleon, Socrates, Billy the Kid, Sigmund Freud, Mozart, and others, who then journey forward in time with the duo in order to give the youth of California eye-witness accounts of the "awesome" pageant that is world history."
And here's "Bogus Journey": "It is the future. Society has at last solved all its major problems, thanks to amiable lunkheads Bill and Ted and the inspiring music of their band, Wyld Stallyns. Only one man is dissatisfied with the way things have turned out, the evil De Nomolos (Joss Ackland). In an effort to change the future, De Nomolos sends evil Bill and Ted robots back in time to prevent the real Bill and Ted from winning a pivotal Battle of the Bands. What follows is a spirited journey through the afterlife as Bill and Ted try to rescue their girlfriends, save the future, and, oh, yeah, learn how to play the guitar."
