Review of Queen of the Damned

This is not a bad film - unfortunately, it's also not a great film. If you
are looking for a scary vampire film then this is not the film for you.

The basic premise is a good one but it is let down by a disjointed plot,
poor script and over-the-top acting. Admittedly, it is hard to be over
critical of one of the lead actors as they died after the film was finished
but I fear that is one of the main reasons people will go see this film.
Quite a few people got up and walked out. Mind you, it is fun doing a "spot
the minor British, American and Australian actors" - took me a while to
figure out who some of them were.

If you want a so-so non-scary vampire film then go see it. Personally, I'm
waiting for Blade II to come out (which, of course, is the day BEFORE I'm
due to get on a plane bound for the UK!) - there was a trailer for it last
night and it looks really good.

According to www.imdb.com, not very.

I saw a clip on film 2002 last night, and it did indeed look disturbingly
bad.

It's all the vamps with East-European accents trying to look arrogant
simultaneously that worries me.
Did no-one learn the lessons of "Near Dark"?
<sigh>

Now that's a good one for your video evenings.
Probably not that many people have seen it these days, seeing as how it's
quite old now.
