Students, new term etc etc ....

Anyone have the details for when the students are back, when the new lot
turn up and what's going on for Freshers Fair ?

I've not noticed any appeals for mag articles - do we have one in
production ?

Term starts a week from Monday, Fresher's Fayre takes place on
Thursday 27th and Friday 28th September. We are having a stall, hopefully
near a powerpoint so we can have a laptop with which to show clips of SciFi
films and related stuff.
We aren't sure. The committee will be holding a meeting this
weekend to discuss it.

The Bob did lug a TV, video and stereo up there (plus other
essentials like a case of beer etc). Playing Urotsukidoji
was a great way of parting people from their money. They
just kind of stand there in a daze and pass over their
cash.

I lugged my PC up for 98 and had that playing sci fi clips all day. It also
greatly relieved the boredom by providing games of wipeout during the
day....

Basically so long as you tell them before hand that you'll need access to a
powerpoint then they'll try and stick you near one, although I gather the
stage is now out of bounds now and is used by pathetic clubs and socs
officers to pratt about on.

Haven't made it down for Freshers in a great many years, last time I came I had a complete
mare. Is there any reason for non students going now seeing as the only thing we get for
joining a society is a 3 pound hole in our pocket and a bunch of stuff we turn up to

Not as far as I know. Unless someone's hoarding some in the hopes of using
them for blackmail purposes at a later date. Anyway, it's just the
standard pvc/rubber gothic fare - hardly anything you wouldn't see at Full
Tilt or Slimelight every week.

I'll be *VERY* surprised if the Entertainer had the Vader ones for a tenner as they're a
little on the rare side now - as are the Luke Jedi ones. Qui Gon and Maul ones yes, but
(checks Entertainer web site at www.thetoyshop.com , where's my money for this month's
plug, it seems to be down) I'd be surprised if they had any of the original trilogy ones
or the Obi Wan E1 one.

My Luke Jedi Sabre broke on the blade during a pitch battel between 2 members of my
housegroup - managed to tape it because the break was under the hilt.

BTW there are 4 new lightsabres on the way for E2 - including a Mace Windu one where you
can change the of the blade and (I assume) new Anakin and Ben ones that (again I assume)
match the ones used in SW.
