Planet of the Apes

It's pretty good - stands up well to the original (mainly 'cause it's not a
remake) and has some really good twists at the end. Tim Roth rocks - he's
really good in it. I enjoyed it and recommend it to everyone.

I won't give anything away on this one!

Having never read the original novel, I couldn't tell you.

Well the original book had Cars and Apes crossing the roads by using bridges
that they swung themselves under. The hunters were like fox hunters (hunting
for sport) with all the regalia that modern fox hunters use. It was a 1920's
ape world.

not quite then. It's a bit more militaristic than that (no hunting but
catching the humans for slaves).

Oh it ended with them getting back to earth (the ape world was really
another planet, but when they did they found that earth had also become the
planet of the apes as they saw Apes on the Eifel Tower. The author when he
saw the film had it being earth all along said he wished he had thought of
that for an ending.

Yep, that's the ending of this film, except it's the Lincoln Memorial in
Washington D.C. is actually a memorial to General Thade. A bunch of police
turn up and guess what? Yep, they're apes.

Hurrah!

Happier than that, though, was the simple fact that it ended. This brought
great joy to my heart, as Titanic was one of the most dull films I've ever
sat through. At least the costumes were nice, as it gave me something to
look at.

DiCaprio is not a bad actor - he was very good in Man In the Iron Mask,
What's Eating Gilbert Grape, and I'm sure in other things too. Titanic
was, however, a really bad film.

I am sure the film has a different ending (never occurred to me that it
might have the same ending as the book (can you imagine Americans going for
a French ending, I can't).
Sorry about the book, there is much that happens in the book that I have not
mentioned.

Given that the original film and the book is well over 30 years old the chances of anyone
not knowing the ending are slim......
