New society

I noticed on a poster in Founders someone is trying to set up a Film-Making
society. They put a time and a meeting place on the poster but no other
details (I only saw the poster after their set up meeting). I am trying to
track down that society and sending out messages to anyone who might know
how to contact them, the SU has got no details of them (tried there first).

ahhhhhhhhhh it's the annual 'lets set up a film making society!' time. I had
one in my first year, and my second year. From what I remember, the society
tends to die out every year, due to either lack of interest or lack of
funding, then gets resurrected every so often by some bright spark with
aspirations to be the next James Cameron.

Good luck to em, maybe we could rope them into helping with the IFIS film.

I can remember one year they actually managed to produce a film. It was
fairly poor, mostly monologue due to a shortage of actors/actresses.
Recycled storyline, fairly poor sound, and unlike IFIS's
idea-for-a-film, I think they were trying to be serious, whereas IFIS's
is supposed to be a blatant pisstake.

If the film making society are happy to take the piss out of themselves,
they might want to help us and we might want to help them. If they want
to do some arty dogme serious thing, we probably can't help each other.
