- Proposed modifications to the constitution:
- Proposed by Simon Richardson, seconded by Jenny Gould:
After paragraph g) subsection ii), the following words shall
be inserted:
Before elections, the returning officer shall read out the
following statement:
"Experience has shown that final year students have
considerably higher workloads than previous years. This has
resulted in committee members being unable to fulfil the
responsibilities of their posts"
Passed almost unanimously
- Proposed and seconded by Jacquie (ex chair) and seconded by Andy
(ex treasurer):
The post of publicity officer should not be an exec position,
it should be an honourary position so that it can, if
convenient, be held by a non-student member. We still have the
requisite Chairman, Treasurer, Secretary Exec.
Passed completely unanimously
- Statements from the exec:
- Chairman Jacquie mentionned 2 video evenings (12 Monkeys, and
the sickathon, remember?), Singing carols at the "christmas"
dinner, finally getting the library, er, almost accessible,
after 1 and a half years, and a few other points.
- Treasurer Andy told us how much money we made at fresher's
fayre, video evenings, theoric, and how little of it we spent,
so we're going to spend loads on books ASAP.
- Secretary Claire told us she was secretary, and apologised (?)
for not wearing the traditional stockings and suspenders.
- Information Superhighwayman Nick (Me) didn't say anything
because it's not an exec position and I don't have to. Probably
should have mentionned these fantastic web pages, list of books
online, mailing-lists, etc.
- Election of new committee:
- Nick Waterman (me) nominated and voted unanimously as returning
officer - this has allegedly become a tradition somehow without
me noticing.
- Luke Dalli, Kevin Bob, Jonathon Hart nominated as Chairman, Luke
Dalli voted in almost unanimously
- Kevin Bob, Darren Snee, Jonathon Hart nominated as treasurer,
Kevin Bob voted in.
- John Hart, Darren Snee nominated as Secretary, John Hart voted
in, JUST - final vote decided by a coin toss!
- Chris Lyth, Nick Waterman nominated as Publicity Officer, Chris
Lyth voted in easily.
- Nick Waterman (me!), and Richard Mines nominated as Information
Superhighwayman, Nick Waterman (me!) voted in almost
unanimously. (Am I supposed to know that?)
- Any Other Business:
- Jenny about access to Library before end of term. Jacqui replied
that it was available but none of the committee would have time
to get any books from it for anyone.
- Retire to the pub.
